How are your reading skills? My favorite authors are Robert J Sawyer, science fiction and Jack Whyte, historical fiction. Both require very advanced reading skills. But they always delivery a story that you just can't stop reading.
Old man and the sea by Hemingway is a classic and is full of metaphors and will be very challenging. But it is a very good story as well.
i recommend the books 1.) Enders Game, 2.) Lord of the Flies, 3.) Holes, 4.) Lolita
these are all great books that ive read multiple times over and really recommend
Enders Game is about highly intelligent children sent to space to train as soldiers to fight against an alien invasion. im a kid so i liked the idea of kids being the only answer to the world being saved lol. there is a bit of a twist at the end but its great and unexpected. i read this book multiple times when i didnt have access to any technology and it was the best decision
Lord of the Flies is a gross book about stranded children on an island with no adults. eventually a bit of a class system evolves, and the kids with the most power and numbers hunt down the other kids. its actually hard to properly describe this book. the name of the book is quoted in the book at a certain point and its really cool
Holes i havent actually read the book yet, but ive seen the movie and i enjoyed it so much, its about these boys in a detention center who are forced to dig holes in the dirt. thousands and thousands of holes in the hot sun as "character building" for this corrupt lady. definitely you should watch the movie if you read the book
Lolita is probably one of the most impressive books ive read, its written almost like a diary. the main character is definitely the villain, but its written in a way that makes it seem like hes the good guy, and that you should sympathise. warning, he is a child predator. but the book is so good, and written like a journal, i was not sure if this was real or fake. to be honest i am still not sure. but its an impressive book im glad i read
