"здесь" - almost full analogue of "here". Примеры: Я здесь живу. Здесь так не принято.
"вот" - a kind of introductory word and hardly depends on context Примеры: Вот этот персонаж. (Exactly this protagonist) Вот такое вот лето. (This kind of summer. In the meaning of a bad one)
