Question about English (US)

Does my essay sound gramatically natural?

I think it's reasonable to offer free plastic bags in supermarkets.

First and foremost, it's convenient: suppose you have to bring your shopping bag every time you go to a supermarket. It would be bother.

Besides, some recent studies shows it doesn’t make much difference to the environment whether you use plastic bags or not.

In light of these points, I don't think it's worth the effort to live without plastic bags.

※ Is it weird to use "besides" at the beginning of a paragraph?
