they are the same.
for example: “this may be a problem” and “this might be a problem” has the same meaning.

May is used in present & future tense while might is in past tense. You should use may if you are talking about a current situation and use might if you are talking about a situation in the past.
(She may leave the party.
She might have caught cold while on the train.)
May can also be used when asking for and giving permission. (“May I go to the restroom?” “Yes, you may go.”)

May and might are also used for degrees of possibility. May is used when you think the chances are high and might is used if it is unlikely.
Using may in your sentence is correct if you assume that he liked the candy :) If you think that he didn’t like it, you can use might.
There are different ways you can use may and might depending on the context. There’s really not a strict rule.
