A list is a series of items that have some unifying concept or idea.
While a docket is also covered under list, it is a very specific type of list. A docket is a list of trial cases in court.

A lawyer (advogado) takes on people as clients for multiple reasons. When a lawyer files a case with the courts in the USA, the case is given a Docket Number. A date is set for the case to go in front of a judge (ministro). The judge has a docket (legal case list) for that day where the docket numbers are used to identify the cases.
A docket is a list — a legal case list. It is a list with its own specific name.
A shopping list is a list — a list of groceries. It is a list with its own specific name.
A To-Do list is a list — a list of tasks for someone to complete. It is a list with its own specific name.
Even though they have special names, they are still lists. A list is simply a series of items put together using a meaningful sequence or grouping.
