Rely on is like you can trust someone.
For example: "Can I rely on you to keep the secret"? Or "I can rely on you guys right"?.
Rest on is like a more physical thing.
For example:"Mom, can I rest on you"? or during football practice break you can say" Coach can we rest on the bench for now"?
