It was deliberate and the way he is speaking is natural of AAVE. He is saying that when he joined the boxing scene when he was 32, the other guy was considered too old for boxing at that time.

@kitopo6408ffyd Some people will use “a” in place of “an”, (never the other way around though) but usually not all the time. It’s not correct, but it’s just the way they talk.
