As you know, 좋다 is adj and 좋아하다 is verb. 좋아요 and 좋아해요 their meaning is quite similar but in grammatic view they have different roles.
+ The Adjective in Korean grammar isn't match exactly with the one in English. Rather, many English Adjective has similar role with 보어 in Korean grammar(It usually modifies Noun and Pronoun). I think that Korean Adjective is similar to English expression "be+adj". It has describing function in a word already.
