@ladybug Oh, I didn't mean exercise. I'm picturing situations like when you wake up in the morning or after you passed out. Do you call that sitting up, too?

"sit up"
You are not going to get one word or phrase to cover all of what you described.
"I sat up." would be sufficient if it was already known that I was lying on the floor.
"sit up" means sit from a lying position.
"sit down" means sit from a standing position.
"sit" can mean either, but usually means sit from a standing position.
