Are is used for talking about more than one thing “plural.” Is should be used in this case, because the subject is just one team.

Well, it depends. This is one of the ways that British English and American English disagree. AmEng speakers see collectives like this (team, council, choir, family) as singular and BritEnglish speakers see them as plural. So the answer is "Where are the team..." in UK and "Where is the team..." in USA.
