I use a mix of cursive and non-cursive, Mostly non-cursive, but I will join letters that end in the bottom-right corner

In America, the only people that use cursive are old. No one under the age of 40 uses cursive.

Personally, I think you shouldn't bother learning it unless you want to do calligraphy. Block letters are much easier to read

While most people use cursive in signatures, I have seen block letter signatures on occasion. Cursive gives your signature a more unique character in my opinion, which is good because you don't want your signature to be easy to copy

@ereeeeeeen A lot of people do, but I don't think you have to. It would be useful to learn how to write your name in cursive but that's about it.
