Я думал, что он будет лёгким как в прошлый раз, а то я всё время только математикой и физикой занимаюсь и не очень хорошо готовился а так хорошо сказано?

В прошедшем и будущем времени предпочтительно использовать творительный падеж: он мог быть неплохим художником, а стал бездарным политиком; знаменитая теорема, «не поместившаяся на полях», долго еще останется недоказанной. Именительный падеж в общем случае менее желателен, однако в определенном контексте может стать одним из средств литературной выразительности: Ах, какой был мужчина! Настоящий полковник!
