A basement is found on the bottom of a house while an attic is at the top of a house.

The basement is the underground part of a house (not all houses have one) and the attic is an extra room at the top of the house that is usually small, so people usually use it for storage.

I was reading a book and came across "attic" but in the translator when I went to look to take away the doubt I came across the basement translation (basement for you) so the doubt, now I know that "attic" is like the attic in Portuguese. Thank you, guys
