"He has a positive light on the problem" - doesn't really work, but I would understand what you mean.
"He put a positive light on the problem" - this is OK. It means that he found a way (a perspective) to look at the problem that found some good parts.

"His light on the problem"? - No, this is incorrect.
"To see the problem in his light" - Maybe, but it sounds odd.
"his view of the problem" - OK
"his take on the problem" - OK
"his side of the problem" - OK

arent they the same in meaning? that is why I thought light could be used as the meaning of perspective/viewpoint/outlook!
