That doesn't look natural, I've never seen that.
Normally people say/write "two and a half years"

This is to show that "two" and "half" are part of the same number. The "-" is used to adjoin two words or concepts, as in phrases like "twenty-two" (how to spell out the number 22) or "ready-made" (something that has been made already).
