Question about English (US)

Hi! I have a question? I have a chart with the word PROHIBIT and it says:

NOUN: prohibition || VERB: prohibit || ADJETIVE: prohibitive

And my example says:
Dogs are PROHIBITED on public beaches.

(in the example refers to the adjetive, right? Why not prohibitive?)

Thanks
