Do the following two sentences mean the same thing?
1) You can help him, but you can't live his life.
2) You can help him, yet not live his life.
(For reference, I am learning how to use 'yet' by myself.)

@ameba_da I guess? The word but seems to fit a little better. Yet is an odd word that is difficult to explain.
It’s 3:56 am for me right now. I could say: I’m so tired right now, yet I can’t seem to sleep. This use of yet is synonymous with nonetheless.
Yet is also used as synonymous for so far.
I’ve left several messages, but I haven’t heard from him yet.

They mean the same thing! The second one is just much much more formal. We would never say that in speaking. It's something I would expect to read in a book from the 1800s haha
