What the hell are you reading!!
(piss = urine)
to take the piss means to tease, to make fun of, to mock. (used in the UK)

examples:
If you are so serious that you can't take the piss out of yourself every once in a while, you're going to have a hard time enjoying most of life.
It really hurt Steph's feelings to know that the group had been taking the piss out of her that whole time.
The closest fit to your sentence would be:
.... to answer that would make a mockery of the whole thing.

@zentofu hmm, ok, i will be more specific. What does ‘take the piss out of the whole thing’ mean?
- English (US)
@hy_korean it’s a British thing, it means to laugh/mock at something or someone. Basically making fun of the thing or person

@TomC1 thank you. It was the scene in the movie where the interviewer asked the author to tell about the ending. So the author answered the interviewer. “To answer that would take the piss out of the whole thing.”

In other words, to tell the ending would ruin the whole movie - a bit like telling someone, 'you know, Bruce Willis is actually dead!' when watching 'The Sixth Sense' - (if you've seen it).

(and if not, I've just ruined it for you!)

@TomC1 hmm but it’s a bit hard to understand for me. You said ‘take the piss’ means teasing and making fun but it also means ‘ruin’?
- English (US)
Not just teasing and fun, but also mockery, like the example I had given above:
"To answer that would make a mockery of the whole thing"
"To answer that would make the whole thing a joke"
By:
Revealing everything.
Ruining it for the readers, since they now know how it's going to end (all suspense is gone)
- English (US)
Don't focus on 'ruin'.
'Ruin' has several meanings.
Probably 'to spoil it for the readers' would be more suitable:
