You could say both. Here are a couple examples:
If my wife gave birth to our child and I was telling someone how I felt that day, I could say “that was the best day of my life. I’d never felt such happiness.”
But you could also say “that was the best day of my life. I’d never felt as happy as the moment my son was born.”

"I have never felt this happy" sounds more natural, I think.
