"Better" refers to quality. "More" refers to quantity. For example:
"I like it better than I did before." (The quality of your "liking" improved)
"I like it more than she does."
(You like it at a greater quantity than the other person)
However, most people use "I like it better" and "I like it more" interchangeably, without thinking about the difference in meaning.
