Question about English (US)
That guy didn't have actual friends to talk to but he needed someone to support him. He had some person in mind, but he
could hardly resort to getting back in touch with them because they hurt his feelings really bad back in the day.
Does this sound natural?

A little unnatural
I would rephrase your second sentence to "he had someone in mind" or "he had a person in mind." Also, if you want to be grammatically correct, "them/they" is a plural pronoun. If he has one person in mind, you should really use "he/him" or "she/her" pronouns as there's no widely accepted gender neutral pronoun in English.
