Question about English (US)

1.I couldn't help but smile back, if just because here was the old Mike I remembered.

2.He would be hiding something or other if just because that's what he'd always done.

I found sentences 1 and 2 on Google and my questions are..

Q1) In both sentences, can "if only because" be used instead of "if just because"?

Q2) In both sentences, does "if just because" mean more or less the same as "if only because"?

Q3) Are both sentences 1 and 2 correct?

My intuition tells me to say yes to these three questions, but I'm not really sure about them. Could you help me out?
It's okay just simply answer yes or no, which will be also a great help to me.
