Can insults turn into playful teasing sometimes? I have heard that insults aren't always insults instead just playful teasing.

Yes.. it can.. but body language, facial expression and how well you know the person and what you say is all important. Keep looking at their faces to be sure they understood you were teasing.

Okay, thanks. I saw the movie "Big hero 6" recently and I got an answer that there were not insults even though the terms are normally insults and insulting (knucklehead and bonehead).

Good friends know you well and can usually know when you're teasing them. Still, what you don't know is how well they needed to know each other to laugh instead of being offended. Look carefully at the cartoon characters' faces

If I call my best friend an "idiot", but I say it with a smile, he'll know that I'm joking. Not everyone appreciates these kinds of jokes. You have to understand who you're talking to.

@palexkrupnik okay, thanks :) Have you seen the movie Big hero 6. Do you also agree that it was just playful teasing or joke?

@Babbaaabaa I haven't seen it, but the words knucklehead and bonehead are informal and low-level insults. Therefore, it would usually be interpreted as a joke.

@palexkrupnik okay, thanks. :) I believe it was just a joke :) I have also heard that "bonehead" and "knucklehead" are casual insults as well as informal insult like you said. What does those mean (casual and informal insult)?
- English (US)
Yes; men are more likely to use playful insults with their friends than they are to make compliments.
