I'm curious what A means.

3. A can mean either 1 or 2 according to context.

B. is a little trickier. It could mean:
- the image is sitting on the sofa
- the image is of him sitting on the sofa
You could say B. (and people often do say things like this), but you would have to clarify your intention in the rest of the conversation.
For clarity, I’d more likely say:
“I do have an image of him, taken when he was on the living room sofa.”
