Some people write "Internet" with a capital, but I see no reason to do that. "Internet" can always be written with a small 'i' (except, of course, at the beginning of a sentence).
"Internet", as an adjective, doesn't need "the". For example, "I did an internet search." (= I did a search on the internet)
- an internet (adjective) search
- on the internet (noun)
"Internet", as a noun, sometimes take "the" and sometimes does not, and I don't know the rule. I only know when it sounds right. For example:
- I looked for it on the internet. (or on "the net" (very informal))
- Who invented the internet?
- How much do you pay for internet?
- Does that shop have free internet?

oh, thank you )
but still, if I say "internet" without "the", when "the" is needed, would it be very bad? (or on the contrary)

@keepupwithmeDiana I don't know what the rule is. I only know when it sounds right.
These are right:
- I looked for it on the internet. (or on "the net" (very informal))
- Who invented the internet?
- How much do you pay for internet?
- Does that shop have free internet?
But if you said:
- I looked for it on internet. (or on "the net" (very informal))
- Who invented internet?
- How much do you pay for the internet?
- Does that shop have the free internet?
Those sound strange and wrong, but the meaning is still clear. Using "the" or not using "the" is a very small mistake.

thank you ) usually I put "the" article before "internet". But as I see it, if I'm talking about Internet payment and about free internet from somewhere, I don't have to use "the".
