Question about English (US)
About how to use "suppose" please.
When I had a question from someone,Then I replyed to him.
After that, he resent me a mail with a brilliant answer than I made.
Could I address something like, "I supposed (to?) say this"

I don't quite understand the situation ><
Someone asked you a question --> you replied --> he replied with a better answer (than yours) to his own question?
You could say that, or: "I should've said this"
Regarding the grammar,
"I supposed (to?) say this" --> "I was supposed to say this"
(I would personally say "I should've said this". To me, "I was supposed to say this" could sound a bit harsh here?

I'd appraciate your understanding for my question.
So, If I use "I was supposed to say this" in this situation,
I might suggest that I didn't tell him a better answer on purpose, right?

@spacia
Hmm, or possibly like: “I was supposed to say this (😠not you!)”
But this might just be a feeling I get— so I don’t want to tell you not to say it 🙇♀️🙇♀️😖
But in general, I think “~should have” is more common in this type of situation
