@Hiro_Y It's short for "backed into a corner" and is used here metaphorically. It means having few to no options available from one's current position, like they have an opponent in front of them and a closed wall corner behind them, so no way to escape.
In this case, it's slightly redundant with "no place to go", in my opinion.
