“Absurd" implies something unreal or that makes no sense. "Ridiculous" is implies something worthy of ridicule (scorn) but is typically used (at least in the US) to describe something that makes no sense. Thus, as a practical matter, I'd say these words are usually used interchangeably. “I'm curious, and it's absurd I'm not allowed to talk to anyone!” “He is a most absent-minded and absurd fellow, but he has a heart of gold.” “It was ridiculous to fight with him this way.” “ This is ridiculous I’ve been standing in line for 3 hours!”

Ridiculous means worthy of ridicule, something that should be mocked.
Absurd means not making sense. It can be lighthearted nonsense poetry or it can be used in an existentialist way to describe bad things that happen to good people for no reason.
