How do you say this in English (US)? This is not real. I'm just imaginationig this. When I went to read books to library, someone spoke on cellphone. So I said "keep it down please" Is it right? Is there more polite esxpression? If so please let me know it.

@ghwls73 “Sorry to interrupt, but could you please lower your voice?” 그렇지만 미국에서 people are just rude, and he or she may give you a dirty look or respond with profanity. Your best bet is to tell the librarian to say something and stay safe. Btw, “I’m just imagining this” -> “This is just a hypothetical situation” 그리고 “Is there more polite expression” -> “Is there a more polite expression”👍

You have to say in a nice voice and a smile:
“I would appreciate it if you could please keep it down, thank you for understanding.”
“Would it be OK if you lowered your volume a bit? Thank you.

A polite way to ask someone to not disturb you:
“Your phone conversation is distracting my reading”.
Any intelligent person would understand immediately and should humbly and apologetically end the conversation.
