@pyungsim yes that example was perfect!
and yes with make you would just use the present form of the verb
- he made us laugh
- they made us run a mile
- she made them file documents
- i made my son clean his room
glad that i helped :)

my question was that how come "laughing" can be used after "had + object". as far as i know, only root verb or past participle can come after "have +object". can you explain this to me?

@pyungsim us here is basically an object
Us means more than 1 person and people are an object

@pyungsim ooh this is a tricky question
so "he had laughed" is the past participle grammar you're used to but in this case, "he" isn't the one verb-ing. "had" in this example is the same thing as "made" like he made them laugh. im not sure what the right terminology for this kind of grammar structure but here are some more examples:
- they had us running a mile this morning to work
- she had them filing documents for hours
does that make any sense? lol

@thasnimkhala i see. thank you very much for your helping words!

@ggabeau17 i see. you mean the structure "subject have object ~ing" is also possible. but it's wrong with make, right?
eg. i had my son cleaning his room all morning.
(is this right?)
thank you very much for your help!
