Question about English (US)
Does this sound natural?
"I think the vaccine is safe."
"You may be right, but I still worry that there might be some unknown side effects. I mean, no body knows what would happen in a year. Even if people laugh at me, I'm not gonna get the shot this year."

I would just change "what would happen" to what COULD happen"

"nobody" should be a single word here. Compare:
"There is nobody here" = "There isn't anyone here"
"There is no body here" = "There aren't any corpses here"

Thank you for your advice.
Could you tell me the difference between "would" and "could" in this context?

@esejacky "would" is used for a certain outcome in a hypothetical, "could" is for one of many plausible outcomes

I agree with that explanation... like native speakers of any language, sometimes we just know what 'sounds right' but don't know why. I think.. "could" sounds better because there are many outcomes. This "COULD" happen... or that "COULD" happen. also if you replace "COULD" with "is able to", that might help explain it. Whereas "would", implies that is the ONLY outcome.
Here's an example:
Please don't offer my child any peanuts. He WOULD PROBABLY eat them. (meaning-- that is the likely outcome)
but if he eats them, He COULD have an allergic reaction, he COULD have breathing problems, or he COULD get very sick (any of these are possible)
(I'm not sure why this example came to mind! )

Do you think that I understood the difference?
"I think that nobody knows what COULD happen after getting vaccinated, but the Senator seems to be sure what WOULD happen."
