@TracYolivia yeah that I know, I meant 'a dividend' in the sentence represents a dividend in general? there's saying 'pay stockholders a dividend..' not dividends

because it is one dividend for all like you made $100 you have to share $100 with all ppl . you are not paying everybody $100 .

@ttlearner yes the stock made one win for this period of time and from hat win they are paying all the shareholders. when the company makes 1 million in a year they have just this 1 million they can give away. that is the profit
