Typically K-1 is 5-6 years old, grade 2 is 7, grades 3-4 are 8-9 years old, and grades 5-6 are 10-11 years old. The actual cutoff is based on when the child is born, and this is different depending on the laws of each state.

Kindergarten (K) is usually 5 years old, occasionally 6 years old or very late 4 years old (after 4 years, 9 months)
First grade (1) is 1 year added to that
