What does "Don't think I haven't seen you picking apart my library" -- it doesn't seem to have a negative connotation (definition of pick apart - criticise sth severely, find fault) So can it be used to mean just "study sth laboriously, peruse"? mean?

Yeah I think it can be used that way! Probably only with someone you're close to though..
