Question about English (US)

What is the difference between May you help me with the homework? and Will you help me with the homework? ?Feel free to just provide example sentences.

I get confused with this two sentences. My teacher say the first one is better and more natural and that is a polite request. And the second one is more like I need the other one promise that he/she will help me. But there some opinion on a forum say that the first sentence doesn't sound natural and be unusual. Someone please give me the right answer.
