What “I’ve” is, is a contraction of “I” and “Have”, so anything where you could say “I have”, you can pretty much say “I’ve”, the only rule is that it is only used for when you mean “I have” in the sense that it is an auxiliary verb and not just acting as the verb “to have”, meaning you can only use it when you say “I have” as in talking in the past tense.
Like, “I have been here before”
But for example, you can’t just use it if you just mean the verb “to have”, like “I have a ball”, then you couldn’t say “I’ve”
Does that make sense?
