Question about English (US)

I have seen that the theory say
Using ‘These’ to mention something near , and using ‘those’ to say something far .
But in this sentence, which sounds more natural?

‘She dont really love me, she just like these diamonds on me.’

‘She dont really love me, she just like those diamonds on me.’

Why do I think the second is better?
