“ I got in the car, looked TO GO INTO reverse” (said by a native speaker)

I am not a native speaker, so I would say “I got in the car, looked around TO DO reversing”

Can you please let me know how would you say naturally
- TO CHANGE the gear (manual and matic) to Reverse, to 1,2,3,4 and to drive)

- TO adjust the mirror

- TO BRAKE the car / TO step on the Brake ie: watch out, someone is crossing the street, put your brake on????

- TO GAS the car / to STEP on the gas

- TO HAND BRAKE ie: don’t forget to set your hand brake on?
