One just means you are already spaced-out and the other means you are in process.
There is really no difference in usage.

“I’m spacing out” and “I spaced out” would be more accurate! “I’m spacing out” would mean someone isn’t paying attention or isn’t aware of something whilst “I spaced out” is just the past tense version of “I’m spacing out”

I spaced-out and I’m spaced out are two different things.
“I spaced-out” is usually used to mean a short lapse in attention or an instance of forgetfulness.
I’m spaced-out means your head is in a weird space, not tuned-in to what’s happening.
Spacing-out is sometimes used for either situation.
