You can say "please sit down" to make it sound nicer

It can be, because it can sound like an order. You can still use the phrase, but if you add “please” it will sound more polite. “Sit down please” or “please sit down” sounds kinder than just “sit down”

Yes! It’s okay to use ‘sit down’. However, asking it as a question rather than commanding it would be more respectful!
For example, you could say: ‘Can you please sit down?’

@LearningStar They have the same meaning, but "sit down" sounds a bit angry, like a command and not an invitation

That's one of the reasons I don't like text books, they're overpriced, what's that? 10 phrases take an entire page. lmao
