First sentence implies that the action of inviting has been completed - the speaker has finished inviting people. The second sentence implies that the speaker might, or could, invite more people - it hasnāt been completed yet. The third sentence sounds complete as well, with not much of a difference from the first sentence. āHadā in this case emphasizes that the speaker had invited the people some time ago (at least the way I see it). If you look into āaspectā in English grammar (perfect, progressive, etc) this should help you understand.

āhadā would be used in a past tense , if you are talking to someone after the party had happen you would say
āsome of the people I had invited to the party couldnāt comeā
āhaveā would be used in a more present tense if you were currently at the party talking with someone else
āsome of the people I have invited to the party couldnāt comeā
