Question about English (US)

I usually see "Where do you live?"instead of" Where do you live in? "',Where do you come from? "instead of Where do you come?".Why the two situations are different.I wonder the usage of Where in question sentences. Whether we should add the preposition or not?And there's another question:Where did this customer originate (from ).Do I need to add "from in this sentence ?
