Question about Russian Federation
Hello there~ : )
Can I ask some questions about Russia?
1. Which (domestic) city is known to be the best place for vacation by Russians? (Except for Moscow and Saint Petersburg.)
2. What does ‘морковь-по корейски’ taste like? As Koreans call it carrot kimchi, I’m wondering if it tastes a bit spicy and salty like Korean kimchi. (Or is it more like salad without chili powder at all?)
3. Do many Russians know the origin of ‘морковь-по корейски’? I mean, Koreans learn that it was originally made by the Koreans who had to migrate to Russia from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. I heard that they actually wanted to make Korean kimchi with napa cabbage but they had to make it with carrot instead as it was not that easy to find the same kind of cabbage in Russia back then.
4. Is/Was Victor Choi(Russian name: Виктор Робертович Цой) really famous in Russia back in the 1980s? Do Russian people still know him?
5. Except English, which foreign language is the most commonly learned by Russians? Would it be German?
6. I've heard that there are no dialects in Russia. Is this true?
7. Which European country has the best relationship with Russia? (economically, politically, whatever....)
Sorry for many questions and thank you in advance!. : )

Морковка по-корейски tastes sweet, but also has a fine spicy taste of black pepper and garlic.
No, not many, but this information is on ru.wikipedia.
I think Tsoi acquired big fame after his death.
In addition to English#1 or instead, kids learn German#2, French#3, Spanish#4 in schools. Korean and Japanese are for geeks. Youngsters who want to be translators or interpreters learn Chinese, Polish.
After these words Russians will throw eggs and tomatoes at me. There are dialects.

1. Depends on what do you mean by vacation. There is no only one "the best place"!
If you mean sea/beach resort then Sochi and its neighbourhood is popular.
If you mean some city with interesting history and architecture then I'd say Kazan, Bolgar, Kaliningrad. Vyborg is a mixture of old Swedish, Finnish architecture and Russian mismanagement haha:))
4. He was and still he is.
5. This question was answered 20 times before, just scroll down.
7. I guess none due to the current anti-Russia hysteria :)) Maybe some Balkan countries.

Thank you for answering!
I never think that Korean is widely learned there lol because Russian is not learned commonly here in Korea as well.
That's interesting! Then, I wonder why many websites say that there are no dialects in Russia.

Because it depends on how they consider. It is necessary, on the one hand, to distinguish territorial zones with a predominance of similar linguistic features in dialects; on the other hand, take into account that the zones of manifestation of similar linguistic features do not coincide with the boundaries of territories, and the features themselves are often not localized only in one specific zone. According to the textbook edited by Kasatkin, there are a lot of dialects in Russia: with dialectological division, seven territorial zones are distinguished with 4-6 groups in each.
If we compare the “speech of an inhabitant” of one and another geographic region, it is also important that we are not talking about any inhabitant, but about who unconsciously and naturally uses the native dialect, and not the literary language, which a person is simply artificially taught.
The highlighting of the dialect is not directly related to the fact that speech cannot be understood. I would divide local accents in their influence on the listener into two types: 1) are noticed only by a trained listener (for example, a linguist distinguishes wide and narrow Э and О by ear); 2) are noticed by any educated native speaker of the literary Russian language (for example, pyasok instead of pyesok – sand), without interfering with understanding.
An obstacle to understanding, as in the case, for example, with spelling, creates a large density of differences in the speaker's speech, from the norms familiar to the listener. And also lexical dialectisms are incomprehensible (completely different words and expressions for everyday cases, for example, paradnaya, poryebrik, victoriya, multiphora; for academic examples, see the Dictionary of Russian folk dialects).

People watch deuramas, listen K-pop and then have interest in Korean culture. After watching anime and doramas and after reading manga they are interested in Japan. A lot of teen-agers and young adults are dreaming of visit Korea or Japan. There even are girls who crush into "idols" – members of K-pop bands.

@z0mbie-necrophile "And also lexical dialectisms are incomprehensible (completely different words and expressions for everyday cases, for example, paradnaya, poryebrik, victoriya, multiphora; for academic examples, see the Dictionary of Russian folk dialects)."
