âDoing somethingâ means you are presently doing it. âI am doing something, so donât bother me.â âTo do somethingâ is when you know you need to do something in the (generally) near future. âI wish our neighbors wouldnât be so loud, Iâll need to do something about it.â

Then, when using a verb which doesnât have much of a difference in meaning whether it is followed by the infinitive or gerunds, in the past tense, is there any difference in nuance between the infinitive or gerunds?
For instance, does âl started TO keep a journalâ sound a little bit different from âI started KEEPING a journalâ?
