媒体新闻报道有时会用到“重磅消息”作为开头，这个“重磅”是外来语吗？我个人直觉重磅不是很符合中国文化中重量的单位。跟英国的重量单位镑有没有关系？

它虽不是外来语，但是是近现代才产生的重磅来袭这个词，磅以前做动词，有称量的意思。

好家伙，这个问题中文系也不一定能回答。首先，我要指出提问中的一个错误，英国的重量单位的汉字是【磅】，而非【镑】。后者是货币单位而非重量单位。我帮你查了下数字化古籍库，【镑】字古意更接近劈削，如宋代医书《圣济总录》中记录犀角(镑)。【磅】则多指石落声，但清末开始作为重量单位出现在记载中，如《皇朝经世文统编》中“关税若干，轻重磅数若干”、“进口之棉纱共重一百四十兆磅”。我认为你推测属实的概率很高，真是一个细心的人呢。

@tee-egg 谢谢你的帮忙。我刚刚再查字典、搜索研究了一番。如你所说的，磅有做动词“称重”的意思，不过还是外来的，无论是名词还是作为动词的磅。首先是清末年代英国的重量单位的磅率先进入中文世界，随着那种西式金属台秤引入，估计那时候用的单位也是磅（毕竟公制的公斤、公里、米等等是后来法国人创制的），然后就把磅引申到动词称重的磅。

@Pawer 殊途同归，我也根据字典和网络搜索，加上个人直觉很判断，也得出和你差不都的结论、结果。请问不知道能不能指点一下，怎样能够查到数字化古籍库呢？我个人对于咬文嚼字特别感兴趣，以后也许会经常用到。
