I think they're both fine. It depends on context. "Step out of the car please" is what a policeman might say.

@zlunberg both are correct. The context is the only thing different here. It might depend on how formal you are. “Get out of the car” might sound a bit less formal and more informal. It might sound rude if you say it to a person you’re not close with. “Step out of the car.” Would sound more appropriate if you add “please” next to it. As for “get out of the car”, it would still sound a little mean even if you add please to it. Usually it depends on the people you’re talking to and also the situation you’re in. I hope I helped!
