Question about Sweden
Hi, can you explain to me something about the Swedish Midsommarfest (something like the songs or the traditions).
I know so many tights about the Finnish Midsommar ,it’s basically the same thing?

Hello. Very much depends on the family or circle of friends I think.
For me if possible we gather on the country side in a summerhouse, we eat togther, usually by people everyone making something and then we all bring it togther. Some traditional things many have are: eggdishes or egghalves, newly harvested potatoes, pickled herring (sill), meatballs, sallads, strawberry/cream cake, and things like that.
We drink some beer and alcohol. An alcohol called "Snaps" is very popular, it's a herb liqor of old swedish tradition (scandinavian actually, they have similar things in Norway too) which is quite bitter and spiced with different spices. Many buy packs which you get very small flasks but with many different flavours.
Then in our family/friends if we have time and feel like it we make a "may pole" (midsommarstång) as we call it (we usually do this in the day tho, before food) it's a pagan fallos symbol basically. First you make it like a cross and then you find birchleaves, meadow flowers and things like that and make it from.
Tradtionally you dance around it and sing some songs, which we do sometimes as well. Some like to make crowns out of flowers too, this is very traditional for women particulary to make for themselves.
Sometimes we have a thing called "tipspromenad" which is a game where you go on a walk in teams and answer questions which someone put up on different places along the walk and then at the end of the walk, you count the points and the winners get a nice reward.... more often than not something eatable. But anything really.
Then we just talk and party to the late hours, maybe take a bath in a lake/sea if you are close to that.
Hope that helped.
