Question about English (US)

Nowadays I'm learning about (an?) article "a" and "the".
It is so confused because in my country, we don't use (the?) article all the times like English.

In these books on the pictures, I found there were no articles in front of Ant, Hippo, Giraffe and Monkey.
Is it okay?
I guessed it because the animal words were used as names like "Mike, John..."and they were written in capital letters. But I'm not sure.

I want to know what is better when I explain this picture.

A. "The monkey and the hippo are wearing hats, and the snake is holding a bag"
B. "Monkey and hippo are wearing hats, and snake is holding a bag"

Thank you in advance^^
