Question about English (US)

Hi natives, I just want to check the meaning of the following :

1.lay off the sauce =Give up alcohol. It is usually said of someone who drinks too much.
'You'd rather lay off the sauce, Jack, or else you'll soon count worms.'

I found this definition in Urban Dictionary. For starters, is Urban Dictionary reliable as a source for the informal language?

2. Totes = I know it's an informal term for "totally". However, I checked Merriam Webster and found that it has another meaning which is "definitely". Is "totes" used in the latter sense?

3.Hit man =  hatchet man = enforcer
All the three refer to a violent criminal employed by a crime syndicate. Please tell me I'm right :)
