Well.. there are quite many differences between all of that. âAtâ, âinâ, and âonâ describe position. âIntoâ and describe movement or motion.
At
the uses of at have the basic characteristics of linking something with:
specific time, e.g. Call me at 5 p.m.
a place in general, I am at the office. I'm at home (place being general and not specific with a certain location)
an address, I am at 57, oo street, NY
an act, That scary man is staring at me
In
In is simply more specific than at. It implies some constraint, whether spatial, temporal, or otherwise.
e.g.
I am in my home, which specifically defines that I am not just at the general location, but actually the specific home; situated "my" home; that is, my home surrounds or contains me.
other examples..
I am in my office
See you in the meeting room
I can reach there in 10 minutes (virtual boundary of a time)
On
On is like in, but rather than being contained by something, the general idea of using this preposition is when something is touching a surface of something that which is on something is located above it.
e.g.
There are lots of books on the table, which means that lots of books are above and touching the upper surface of the table.
also used for dates e.g.
the tragedy happened on the 15th ...
Come again on Tuesday
other examples
he had shoes on his feet
the paintings are on the wall
lay down on the floor
Into
actually there's one more, "onto". âIntoâ and âontoâ are simply define movement towards âinâ and âonâ, respectively. after you have moved into something, you are in that thing. likewise, after you have moved onto something, you are on that thing. the usage of into is quite the same as in with just added âtoâ indicates movement. Whenever something moves to a certain place or time we can use these prepositions with rules specified for in and on earlier.
e.g.
He moved into a new house
John dived into the ocean
